Paul is an experienced coach, and is currently a member of the member of the Creative Metier coaching and delivery team for the Women’s World Banking Center for Microfinance Leadership Coaching Program. Paul works in English and Spanish and is coaching the Latin American delegates on the Program. He is based in California.
Paul has more than 15 years experience in the microfinance industry. He spent ten years with the Opportunity International Network, serving most recently as Director for Asia-Pacific. His major focus was on the establishment of regulated banking vehicles. He oversaw two conversions; to a bank in the Philippines and to a non bank finance company in India. He also set up several new finance company options in China. He worked with regulators managing the transition process from NGO to NBFC or bank, advised CEOs and Boards on market dynamics relative to their competition, and supported the transition process through licensing, registration, formalisation and the handover of portfolio and staff from one entity to the other.
Paul provided extensive support to CEOs and senior management teams in strategic planning, financial modeling, process mapping and financial review. Paul excels in providing a confidential sounding board for CEOs, Board Members and senior leaders, opening new options for the future and considering the personal implications of transition.
In addition to his work with Creative Metier, Paul is currently developing modules to help clients to make the right financial decisions for their family and business.
Paul’s previous roles include supporting microcredit and development programmes’ field operations in Latin America; management and board roles developing new microfinance institutions in Eastern Europe and Asia; and resource development and management roles in Australia and the US.
Paul has an MBA from the University of South Carolina and Vienna School of Economics and a BA in Economics and Business from Westmont College in Santa Barbara, California.
